Technology
in the Middle and Upper Schools
Students
in Grades 6-12 use computers and related technologies in the Upper
& Middle School computer lab, the science labs, the Guerrieri
library, and their classrooms. Technology resources are also available
in the art and music rooms. There are, in addition, two mobile
labs available for classroom use. The computers used are multimedia
capable and have a high speed connection to the Internet.
Required
and elective courses featuring technology are available for Upper
School students. Middle School students take required courses
in technology. The Middle and Upper School computer teacher teaches
these courses and works with Middle and Upper School teachers
to help them integrate technology into their studies.
Social
studies, English, and science classes often make extensive use
of the computer lab, library connections, and mobile. Some social
studies classes are scheduled in the computer lab so that classes
may make use of the technologies.
Technology
equipment available to the students includes: computers, printers,
scanners, digital cameras, digital video cameras, VCRs, video
cameras, television, chat cameras, LCD projection, etc.
Worcester's
Upper School computer teacher was honored as the Maryland Technology
Teacher of the Year in 1996.
