Worcester
Preparatory school offers a full program of curricular, co-curricular,
and extra-curricular activities including athletics, dramatics,
student government, field trips, and various social events.
The
athletic program includes a variety of varsity level and middle
school sports. Inter-scholastic sport offerings include field
hockey, girls' and boys' soccer, girls' and boys' basketball,
girls' and boys' lacrosse, coed golf, cheerleading, and girls'
and boys' tennis.
A
drama program builds throughout the grades with lower school students
presenting skits and plays in their classrooms, seventh and eighth
grade students presenting one-act plays and musicals, and Upper
School students presenting a major musical each year. Musicals
include "Fiddler on the Roof", "Mame", "Camelot",
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", "The
King and I", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "South
Pacific", "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The
Forum", and "Bye Bye Birdie", "110 in the
Shade", "Carousel", "My Fair Lady", "Rock
and Roll Revivals I & II", "The Fantasticks",
"Li'l Abner", and "West Side Story", Bye Bye
Birdie", and "Anything Goes."
Special
events for Lower School students include the Christmas Candlelight
Service, The Spring Music and Art Festival, Field Day, and Grandparents
Day.
In
the Upper School, a variety of organizations provide the opportunity
for participation and leadership. These include the National Honor
Society, French National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor
Society, The Newspaper - "The Beak Speaks", the Yearbook,
and Community Service. The Student Government Association is responsible
for planning social activities as well as exerting leadership
within the student body. Each class also promotes leadership through
the organization of activities and fund raising projects by its
own officers and faculty sponsor.
