This
is a brief explanation of the college application process that
we have established at Worcester Preparatory School. Colleges
and universities have been complimentary of our presentation of
Worcester students. Remember, your application is a "resume"
for your candidacy to the freshman class!
1. Request
information and applications from colleges immediately if you
have not already done so.
2.
Once application is received, bring to Mrs. Tull for copying.
She will return copies of the entire application packet to you
and retain the original in your college application file. Please
let Mrs. Tull know at this time if you plan to apply to a given
school as an "Early Decision/Early Action" candidate. These
applications should be completed and turned in to Mrs. Tull by
Monday, October 2nd.
3. It is your
responsibility to request recommendations from teachers and Mr.
D'Antonio. If recommendation forms are provided by the college,
give the copies to the teachers and Mr. D'Antonio as soon as you
receive them. If no forms are provided, you may wish to request
letters of recommendation from one or two teachers. This also
should be done immediately. Teachers will return their completed
forms or letters to Mrs. Tull.
4.
Complete your application on the copies that have been given back
to you. Be sure to check application deadlines for each college
and write deadline at the top of your copy. Do those with the
earliest deadlines first and turn them in to Mrs. Tull as soon
as you complete each of them. Applications are completed on a
"first come, first served" basis. Mrs. Tull will record
the date on which she receives them and they are done in that
order. Applications with a January 1-5 deadline must be given
to Mrs. Tull by November 13th. Only those applications meeting
the deadline date of November 13th will be guaranteed to be ready
to go out before Christmas vacation in order to meet the January
1-5 deadline. Please make sure your applications are legible and
in good order when you bring them to Mrs. Tull. All questions
should be answered; however you may wish to submit essays at a
later date.
5.
Mrs. Tull will contact you when your application is ready to proofread
and sign. You will be asked to bring in your application fee at
this time, if you have not already done so.
6.
When all parts of your application are complete (your part, recommendations,
transcript, etc.), we will assemble everything in one package
and mail. Mrs. Tull will keep a record of the date that the application
packet is mailed and a list of the items included.
CONGRATULATIONS!
You only have to wait for the college's decision now. Please inform
Mrs. Tull and Mr. D'Antonio of any reply you receive from the
college.
Start
now and get your applications processed early. Bring each as you
complete it; please do not wait until you have done several. If
we all work together, this process will be less stressful and
more productive for everyone! |
