Celeste Bunting
Head of the Lower School

Celeste Bunting, Head of the Lower School, has been with Worcester since 1973. She taught Grade 1 students for 28 years and is directly responsible for the creation of Worcester's Children's Garden and Bird Sanctuary. Her first grade students back in the 1970s raised the funding for the first feeders and trees. Since that time, all of her first graders enjoyed taking care of the garden and learning about birds. Because of her work with environmental education, Mrs. Bunting has received many regional and national awards. She was named Elementary Science Teacher of the Year by the Chemical Educators Association, was the Maryland Conservation Teacher of the Year, and received 3rd place in the Busch Gardens Pledge and Promise National Environmental Awards. In 2000 she was awarded a Fulbright Teacher Exchange Fellowship and spent three weeks studying education in Japan. She was the Honors Convocation speaker at Salisbury State University for the 2001 convocation. Contact: cfbunting@worcesterprep.org
