| Dear
Faculty and Staff,
It's time to look
at another way your computer can help you in your teaching. No,
I'm not going to ask you to do another project, and we're not
going to have any after school meetings. This is the perfect inservice
education.
All of you need an
assistant. I know that. You do, too. What are the chances of your
getting an assistant for your classroom who will take over collecting
educational resources for you, organize them so that you can find
and use them quickly, and give you unique ideas for your teaching?
But think of the possibilities if you had an assistant. You'd
be like those TV news people and political leaders who have others
get everything ready for them. Well, almost.
No more piles of
paper on your desk and around your room awaiting filing somewhere
in your filing cabinet. No more stumbling over files left over
from the last teacher who was in your room 6 years ago. No more
having to search the web for great sites you remember, but can't
find-even when you use a search engine. No more thinking, "If
I just had ..., I could ..., but I don't have time."
You already have
that assistant sitting on your desktop ready to go to work. No,
it can't grade your papers or read all those essays as you'd like—at
least not yet. It can help you, as you know with your teaching.
Beyond that, it can help you with organization for your teaching
and can save you lots of time.
This year, you'll
continue to travel along The Paperless Path though our
inservice in disguise program. You'll enjoy it. You knew I would
say that, didn't you? But you will.
Through email and
through email bulletins you'll be receiving memorable memorandums
and puckish peeves in addition to other more boring, but useful
tidbits that you must master. On this site, I'll be giving you
more to help to push you along the trail. Sometimes your email
or bulletins will refer you to this or other sites. I know you
will follow the directions carefully. I will have Donna and Westcott
checking to make sure you do.
Your Paperless
Leader,
Merle
