Drama elective is designed to educate the student in the various fundamentals of musical theater stage performance. Students will study/rehearse/perform works of varying theatrical styles such as the Broadway musical, straight play/comedy and variety show.
Lessons on basic acting technique (working on improvisations, monologues and scenes to learn to create believable characters and learn to develop a strong, expressive voice, physicality and imagination), singing, stage movement, theater history, set construction, makeup, costuming and playwriting will be incorporated into the daily rehearsal schedule. All students are required to perform. This is an elective, noncredit course that meets once a week.
