Dr. Barry W. Tull was named Headmaster of Worcester Preparatory School in 1985. Following several years as a teacher in the Worcester County Public Schools, he came to Worcester Prep in its founding year in 1970.   Prior to being named headmaster he served as a teacher, Assistant Headmaster, and Head of Lower School.  

Tull holds a B.S. in political science/elementary education and a M.Ed. in educational administration from Salisbury University, and an Ed.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park in Curriculum and Instruction.   His doctoral dissertation was titled An Exploratory Study of Programs of Differential Education for Gifted and Talented Students in Independent Schools.

In addition to his work at Worcester, he has chaired numerous uation committees for the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the Association of Independent Maryland Schools, and the European Council of International Schools.     His work in accreditation has taken him to independent schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, Switzerland, Italy, and the Virgin Islands.   He led Worcester Prep’s Lower School to become the first elementary school in Maryland to receive accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools

Tull has served on numerous boards and committees within the independent school community including the Board of Trustees of AIMS; Board of Directors of the Calverton School in Southern Maryland, and Board of Trustees of The Country School in Easton, Maryland.   In the community, Tull is a past president of the Pocomoke City Rotary Club, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury, Maryland, and is active in Habitat for Humanity projects.  

Married to Diane, their three children, Joey Lynn Tull Nord, Kristin Tull Asplen, and Christopher are graduates of Worcester.     In his spare time he enjoys reading and woodworking.
