Berlin, MD – It is the pleasure of Worcester Preparatory School to announce that the 37 graduates of the WPS Class of 2024 officially became alumni this past Friday, May 24. This class received over $7.2 million in merit scholarship offers and will go on to attend 28 colleges and universities this fall.
During the ceremony, Head of School Dr. John McDonald announced the Top Senior Award recipients including Valedictorian, Vanessa Hall (Ocean City, MD); Salutatorian, Isabella Huber (Berlin, MD); and Best All-Round Student, Claire Windrow (Bishopville, MD).
The valedictorian for 2024 is Vanessa Hall, who is a member of the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, and the Spanish National Honor Society. Vanessa will attend Stanford University and plans to study Aerospace Engineering.
Isabella Huber, who is a member of the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Art Honor Society, was named the salutatorian. Isabella will attend Johns Hopkins University and plans to study Neuroscience.
Claire Windrow, the 2023-24 SGA President, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, Editor of the Yearbook and Newspaper, and was named Best All-Round Student. Claire will attend the University of Georgia and plans to study Biology.
Maryland State Senator, Mary Beth Carozza, representing Somerset, Wicomico & Worcester Counties, presented Koda Bauer and Ava Conaway with Maryland Senatorial Scholarships, and, on behalf of Delegate Wayne Hartman, presented Ava Conaway with a Maryland House of Delegates Scholarship.

- Graduates will attend 28 colleges and universities in the fall
- College enrollments include schools in 16 states and the District of Columbia
- Some of the colleges the graduates will attend include Carnegie Mellon University, College of Charleston, Georgetown University, the University of Georgia, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland, Miami University (OH), Northeastern University, Sewanee: The University of the South, Stanford University, the United States Naval Academy, Vanderbilt University, and Virginia Tech
During the commencement, local scholarships were awarded, including two American Legion Scholarships to William Mumford and Isabella Huber; Ocean Pines Golf Member’s Council Scholarships to Koda Bauer, Adam Hafez, Vanessa Hall, Carson Rayne and Claire Windrow; Ravens Roost Scholarships to Esi Mehilli and Vanessa Hall; Berlin Little League Scholarship awarded to Connor Ferguson; and the Ocean City Marlin Club Franky Pettolina Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Claire Windrow.
Founded in 1970, WPS is a private, independent Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 School, located in Berlin, Maryland. Approximately 500 students attend from Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
