Worth the Challenge

WORCESTER PREP IS BEST KNOWN FOR ITS RIGOROUS ACADEMIC PROGRAM. The school offers all of the challenging core courses and diverse electives families expect from an outstanding college prep education, as well as excellent writing, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics), world languages, and other programs that have become Worcester Prep hallmarks.

While standardized test scores are high, Worcester Prep focuses on real world applications rather than teaching to a test. Subjects are integrated; students see the connection between reading, math, science, and technology and better understand the value of what they are learning.

The school challenges students at every level to grow as critical, creative, and independent thinkers. As one Lower School teacher said with a smile, “I’m so proud to watch my first graders go all the way through Worcester Prep and graduate. And if one of them becomes valedictorian, I always take the credit.”
WRITING AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

From
Pre-K through grade 12, Worcester Prep emphasizes the strong writing and communication skills demanded for success in college and beyond. Lower School students learn to write essays and deliver persuasive speeches in front of an audience. Middle School and Upper School students continue to hone their writing, public speaking, and communication skills throughout their Worcester Prep careers.

STEAM SKILLS

Worcester Prep offers STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) resources and activities for students at every level. Lower and Middle School students conduct hands-on work in the interactive STEAM Center created specifically for younger students. Upper School students participate in engineering, robotics, coding, and technology classes and projects in the well-equipped Innovation Lab.

While the STEAM Center and Innovation Lab offer the space and equipment needed for large, complex projects, Worcester Prep also incorporates STEAM concepts throughout the entire curriculum, beginning in Pre-K. Students become proficient in STEAM skills as part of their everyday learning experiences rather than as part of a specific course. These intentional experiences and applications more closely resemble the real work world, in which STEAM skills play a part in virtually every career.
World Languages
World languages are a part of the Worcester Prep curriculum from Pre-K through grade 12. Lower School students study Spanish, Middle School students learn Latin, and Upper School students choose Spanish or French.
Time Management, Organization, and Study Skills
Students develop time management, organization, and study skills that prove invaluable not only during their years at Worcester Prep, but also at college and beyond.
