Artist Laura Jenkins Visits WPS

Berlin, MD – Last week local artist, Laura Jenkins, visited Worcester Preparatory School (WPS) to give a two-day Plein Air presentation for 5th Grade. Jenkins returned on Monday, October 25, 2021 to help students create a water color painting of their own in WPS’s garden.

“I am so excited that our students have this opportunity,” Lower School Art Teacher Ms. Rebecca Tittermary said. “Laura (Jenkins) is an amazing artist, and I am so grateful that she is willing to share her talents with us.”

Jenkins is a member of the Ocean City Center for the Arts, Worcester County Arts Council, Rehoboth Art League, Academy Art Museum, Maryland Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, Plein Air Painters of Delmarva and Maryland State Arts Council.

According to Jenkins, she is mostly self-taught. Personal study along with workshops have served to strengthen Jenkins’s skill sets needed to move forward and grow as an artist. Living along the beautiful waterways and marshes of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, plein air painting is almost a year-round activity and serves as a class room unto its self.
