The WPS Grandparents' Association is currently fundraising to update the Children's Garden, located within a secure courtyard within the main academic building. To the left is a rendering of the proposed changes to the space.
We know that the benefits of being outdoors are innumerable and immeasurable. Countless studies have shown that children’s learning, development, and well-being are positively affected by increased time outdoors.
The goal of our garden initiative is to provide extensive learning opportunities and spaces for our students within the safety of our school. The existing Children's Garden was a space designed for quiet reflection and contemplation. The newly envisioned garden offers both dedicated outdoor classroom space as well as learning opportunities not just in the realms of science, but also math, language, art, and history.

Celebrating 50 years, WPS is an independent, college prep day school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 students. Located in Berlin, Maryland, the private school attracts an average of 500 students from Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
