Worcester Prep’s Upper School experience offers challenging academics, opportunities for leadership, athletics, and extracurricular activities, and an in-depth college counseling program.

Rigorous college prep classes, including honors and AP courses, encourage critical thinking and in-depth discussion. A rich selection of electives includes art, digital engineering, robotics, dance, drama, photography, technology, and more.

Extracurricular activities from robotics to mock trial, student government to the student-run radio station, provide an outlet for creativity and give students unique opportunities to shine.
“What stands out about my Worcester Prep education was the emphasis on reading, writing, and time management.
I remember comparing my workload with friends from different schools and thinking that Worcester Prep was much harder, but learning those skills prepared me for the corporate world.”

Upper School teachers have both high expectations for their students and a commitment to helping them achieve their best.

Students respect academic success and individual talent, while encouraging their peers to work hard and take pride in their achievements. Students describe Worcester Prep as a place where “it’s cool to be smart.”

Worcester Prep students realize they’re working toward ambitious goals that reach beyond high school. With the support of dedicated teachers and motivated classmates, students graduate prepared for the challenges of college and success in any field they choose to pursue, including career fields they may help to create.

“I transferred from another school where there was not a real connection between teachers and students other than teaching. At Worcester Prep, you feel more you’re a part of a community. It’s a place you fit in.”

WORTHWHILE TRAVELS

The annual junior trip to Spain and senior trip to England broaden students’ worldviews and give them the skills needed to live and work in a global community.

“Having the opportunity to learn a foreign language and put it into practice gave me the confidence to later study Italian and live in Rome,” said Katie Marshall Timmons ‘10. “Both trips encouraged me to learn about different cultures and to travel and experience them firsthand. I’m actually sharing these thoughts from Florence. The travel bug that Worcester started in me as a student continues to this day.”
