WPS 7th Grader Lynden Prosser Captures Lead Role in the Movie “Children of the Sea”!

Worcester Preparatory School rising 7th grader, Lynden Prosser of Millsboro, Delaware, voices the main character in the Japanese anime film, Children of the Sea. Prosser was selected to voice the animated character, Umi, who was raised in the sea with his brother by magical marine creatures. The story follows the plight of a 14-year-old teenage girl who befriends the brothers while scientists are studying them trying to uncover why they exhibit strange biological adaptations for spending time in the ocean. Prosser recorded the voice of Umi in a NYC studio in just under 10 hours, weeks before the Coronavirus pandemic. “It was such an exciting and interesting experience recording my lines in English at a studio in NYC and trying to match my voice to the body language of the character on the screen,” commented Prosser. “Even the director of the film was in California and instructed me through Zoom.”
The film will premiere at the Movies of Midway in Rehoboth Beach, DE, tomorrow, August 14, and run daily through August 20, with two showtimes at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (The Japanese movie has been dubbed to English in Lynden’s voice for the Movies at Midway showings). Prosser will be at the 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. shows this Saturday, August 15, for a Meet & Greet and FREE poster signings! Due to the Coronavirus, the movie will go to DVD release on September 1.
Twelve-year-old Prosser was bitten by the acting bug at age seven, stemming from his love of cartoon characters. Soon after, he and his mom Leanne Prosser traveled to NYC to meet with an agent and he was signed on the spot! Prior to Children of the Sea, his projects included a commercial and an English-dubbed Ukrainian film. To prepare for roles, Prosser takes acting lessons with a coach in NYC via zoom. He also gained self-confidence for acting at Worcester Prep beginning with the Lower School annual musicals and performing on stage in the Middle School play, The Little Mermaid. Looking ahead, Prosser’s dream acting job would be to work alongside one of his favorite actors, Kevin Hart! A Delaware native, Lynden is the oldest child of parents, Leanne and Christopher Prosser, and big brother to Sol (WPS ’31) and his little sister Camila.
Congratulations Lynden, we are so proud of you!
