WPS Egg-cellent Week with Pre-K

Berlin, MD – Last week, Worcester Preparatory School’s pre-kindergarten class conducted a series of experiments with eggs being the key ingredients. Both experiments resulted in a great day full of fun, all while students learned about the force behind gravity.

The "Humpty Dumpty Egg Drop Challenge" had students, along with help from their parents, create parachutes out of household supplies that would protect a hard-boiled egg during a fall and landing. Students dropped their parachutes from the top of our playground equipment, and not one egg cracked!

The next experiment was "Inertia Egg Drop Experiment” where the Law of Inertia was tested. In this case, the egg stays at rest until the plate is moved, allowing gravity to take over. This pulls the egg straight down into the glass because there was no force to change the direction of the egg.

Celebrating 50 years, WPS is an independent, college prep day school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 students.
