WPS Students Awarded in American Legion Post #123 Essay Contest
On Monday, Worcester Preparatory School (WPS) 4th grade students, Charlize Damouni and Brooke Arnold, were recognized during a Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post #123 awards ceremony for placing in this year’s Americanism Essay Contest.
Each year, the American Legion Auxiliary holds an Americanism Essay Contest for students (Grades 3-12) to teach the value of patriotism and what it means to be an American. Thousands of students participate in the program each year and help promote a lifelong respect for our flag and country. This year’s theme was, “What Freedom Means to Me.”
Charlize Damouni achieved first place, and Brooke Arnold was awarded third place in their division. Both Charlize and Brooke read their essays and were awarded monetary prizes, certificates and American flags. Students and their families were treated to a dinner reception following the reading of the essays and the awards.
