WPS Class of 2027 Jumpstart College Application Process

Berlin, MD –The Worcester Preparatory School (WPS) Class of 2027 is hitting the ground running as students prepare for the upcoming college application season this fall.

Rising seniors recently participated in a College Application & Essay Writing Workshop organized by the WPS Office of College Counseling. During the workshop, students engaged in one-on-one sessions with WPS Director of College Counseling Mrs. Kelly Hawse and members of the Upper School English Department. They focused on writing and reviewing college applications and essays, refining their college lists, and developing thoughtful, authentic personal statements.

The workshop also featured college admissions representatives who shared valuable insights and practical advice about communicating effectively with colleges and highlighting what makes each student unique. Representatives included Suzie Friedrich of Washington College, Becky Brady of Drexel University, Abbey Murphy of Salisbury University, Michelle Zumpano of Bryant University, Abby Trice of the University of Maryland, and Jeff Smith of the University of Tennessee.

Through these conversations and individual writing sessions, students gained practical tools and greater confidence as they prepare to navigate the college application process.
