Berlin, MD –On Thursday, May 19, 2022 children’s author Tina Parks (Salisbury, MD) visited Worcester Preparatory School’s (WPS) Pre-K through 1st Grade to share her book, Vincent Van Goat Wants a New Coat.
Tina, who is also a WPS parent, read the book aloud while her son, Jack (’32), shared the illustrations by Jenell Willey with the audience. Her other son, Declan, looked on from the audience with his Kindergarten class.
The book is based on a true series of events that occurred on the Parks family farm. The synopsis is Vincent Van Goat finds himself in a new home on a new farm, but the other goats there don't like him because he looks different. Through an act of courage and bravery, he's able to win their trust when they learn that sometimes what makes you different makes you special. Following the reading, the students were thrilled to also visit with a couple of the books characters, Vincent Van Goat and Mr. Pickles the mini horse.
