Announcing the Worcester Preparatory School Class of 2022 and Top Three Award Recipients
Berlin, MD –Congratulations to the Worcester Preparatory School (WPS) graduating Class of 2022! The 46 graduates received over $7 million in merit scholarship offers and will attend31 different colleges and universities in13 states and D.C. this fall.
During the ceremony, Head of School Dr. John McDonald announced the Top Senior Award recipients including: Valedictorian Ayush Batra (Rehoboth Beach, DE), Salutatorian Marshall Mumford (Bethany Beach, DE), and Best All-Round Student Anderssen Taylor (Ocean City, MD).
Distinguished WPS alum,Peter Buas ‘09, associate attorney with Williams, Moore, Shockley & Harrison, LLP and Town of Ocean City council member, delivered the Commencement Address to the Class of 2022.
Below are highlights “By the Numbers” from the Class of 2022:
46 seniors: 26 girls and 20 boys.
17 students (37% of the class) entered the class in either Pre-K or Kindergarten, making them WPS “lifers.”
91 colleges and universities offered admission to one or more WPS seniors.
17 private and 14 public colleges and universities are represented in the enrollments.

Commencement speaker and WPS alum, Peter Buas ‘09, is the oldest of six children who all attended WPS. On this day, he watched his youngest sibling, AnnaMarie, graduate. Growing up he learned the value of hard work balancing schoolwork at WPS while taking reservations at the family business, the Buckingham Hotel, starting at the young age of 12.
