Berlin, MD – On Tuesday, April 8, a group of Upper School students from Worcester Prep visited Hardwire in Pocomoke City as part of the newly established WORX program.
The WORX program aims to introduce students to a wide range of opportunities within our community and beyond. By integrating academic preparation with real-world experiences, the program enhances learning and provides valuable career exposure. Key elements of the WORX program include a speaker series, site visits to local businesses, and opportunities to shadow professionals across various industries.
During their visit, students gained a comprehensive understanding of Hardwire’s production of protective armor and systems utilized by the military, law enforcement, municipalities, private enterprises, consumers, and educational institutions. Hardwire's manufacturing facilities span over 130,000 square feet, allowing the team to efficiently support large-scale armor production. This capacity is bolstered by advanced laminated presses, autoclaves, CNC equipment, and automated machinery, enabling the delivery of high-quality, life-saving products when they are most needed.
Hardwire is recognized for addressing some of the most challenging military and defense issues in the country. For nearly two decades, the Hardwire team has developed, tested, and deployed armor to safeguard against diverse threats, including small arms, improvised explosive devices, and underbody blasts. Additionally, Hardwire produces product lines dedicated to critical infrastructure and homeland security. The company also manufactures Emergency Response Shields, clipboards, and backpack inserts, which are employed to protect individuals in public and private facilities, schools, and government buildings across the United States.
A special thanks goes to the Tunis family and the Hardwire team for graciously hosting the WPS students.
