Announcing the Worcester Preparatory School Class of 2026 and Top Three Award Recipients

Berlin, MD – It is the pleasure of Worcester Preparatory School to announce that the 37 graduates of the WPS Class of 2026 officially became alumni this past Friday, May 26. This class received over $8.2 million in merit scholarship offers and will attend a combined 22 colleges and universities this fall.
 
During the ceremony, Head of School Dr. Betsy Hornung announced the Top Senior Award recipients, including Ansh Batra (Lewes, DE), the Valedictorian, Anisha Batra (Lewes, DE), the Salutatorian, and Jude Damouni (Lewes, DE), the Best All-Round Senior.
 
The valedictorian is Ansh Batra, who is a member of the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, and the Spanish National Honor Society. Ansh served as the Vice President of the Class of 2026 for three years. Ansh will attend Virginia Tech and plans to study Engineering.
 
The Salutatorian is Anisha Batra, who is a member of the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, and the Spanish National Honor Society. Anisha is a member of the WPS 12-letter club. Anisha will attend Georgetown University and plans to be a Pre-Med major.
 
The Best All-Round Senior is Jude Damouni, who is a member of the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, and the French National Honor Society. Jude was captain of the WPS swim team and served as the President of the Class of 2026 for five years. Jude will attend Honors College at The University of Delaware and plans to study Psychology with a Pre-Med track.

  • The colleges the graduates will attend are University of Tennessee, Penn College of Technology, University of South Carolina-Columbia, Georgetown University, Virginia Tech, Villanova University, the University of Alabama, North Carolina State University, the University of Maryland, College Park, Florida Atlantic University, Salisbury University, University of Delaware, University of Virginia, Liberty University, University of Central Florida, High Point University, University of Chicago, Clemson University, Syracuse University, University of Miami, The University of Tampa, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
 
During the commencement, local awards and scholarships were awarded, including the Sons of the American Revolution to Kain Crossett; the American Legion Citizenship Award to Max Carpenter; three American Legion Scholarships to Jude Anthony, Emily Patrowicz, and Sydney Mize; the Dan Freed Music and Performing Arts Award to Beckett Green; a Maryland Senatorial Scholarship to Camryn Hawse; the Erin Brooks Mullen Drama Award to Jake Timmons; an Ocean Pines Children’s Theatre Scholarship to Jake Timmons; a HOBY Academic All-Star Award to Beckett Green; the Decker Theatre and Music Award to Josh Greulich; a William E. Kelly Memorial Mathematics Award to Ansh Batra; the Libby Vach Memorial Novel Award to Catherine Cullen; Ocean City Marlin Club awards to Anisha Batra and Jay Moyer; and the Franky Pettolina Memorial Scholarships to Camryn Hawse. Maryland State Senator, Mary Beth Carozza, representing Somerset, Wicomico & Worcester Counties, also presented Ansh Batra and Anish Batra with a Maryland Senatorial Scholarship.
 
Worcester Preparatory School was honored to welcome alum Steve Green as the commencement speaker at graduation. Green, whose son was a member of the Class of 2026, graduated from Worcester Country School in 1993, where he lettered in three sports throughout high school, was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, and president of his class.
 
After graduating from Loyola University in Maryland with a double major in Communications and Political Science, he has been a newspaper editor for the last 29 years, including owning and operating The Dispatch newspaper.
 
Green is heavily involved in community service, including serving as a Berlin Town Council member since 2022; a member of the Atlantic General Hospital Foundation for 14 years, including three as president of the Board; and a member of the Stevenson United Methodist Board of Trustees since 2020. At WPS, he’s been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2016 and has served as chair of the Development Committee. He was the president of the Alumni Association for 10 years.
